Managing email accounts in Plesk allows you to create mailboxes, update passwords and quotas, and remove accounts that are no longer needed. Each mailbox can be accessed through webmail or standard email clients.

This workflow is commonly used on environments managed through Plesk-Hosting where email services are controlled at the domain level.

When Email Account Management Is Needed

Email account administration is typically required when:

  • New users join a team
  • Storage limits need adjustment
  • Passwords must be rotated for security
  • Old accounts should be removed

Regular review helps keep mail systems organized and secure.

Creating an Email Account

Schritt 1: Open the Mail section

Melden Sie sich beim Plesk-Kontrollpanel an.

Locate the domain you want to manage and click Post.

Schritt 2: Create the mailbox

Klicken Create Email Address.

Enter the mailbox name. The domain is added automatically.

Set a password or use the password generator.

Ensure Mailbox is enabled and define a mailbox size or keep the default limit.

Optionally add a description for internal reference.

Klicken OK to create the account.

Modifying an Email Account

Mailbox settings can be changed at any time.

Schritt 1: Open account settings

Im Post Abschnitt, click the email address you want to edit.

Schritt 2: Update settings

Change the password, adjust storage limits, or update other options as needed.

Save the changes to apply them immediately.

Deleting an Email Account

Removing an account permanently deletes all stored messages.

Schritt 1: Select the account

Im Post Abschnitt, select the checkbox next to the email account.

Schritt 2: Confirm removal

Klicken Remove and confirm the action.

Once deleted, mailbox data cannot be recovered.

Praktische Hinweise

  • Back up important messages before deleting accounts
  • Use strong, unique passwords for each mailbox
  • Remove unused accounts to reduce security risks

For better inbox quality and protection against unwanted messages, email accounts are often used together with Spam -Experten. This setup scales well on mail systems running on Cloud-Server where multiple domains and users are hosted.
