cPanel allows you to filter messages that are marked as spam and automatically redirect them to a separate folder. This approach helps reduce inbox clutter while still allowing you to review messages that may have been flagged incorrectly.
Voraussetzungen
Before creating spam filtering rules, spam filtering must already be enabled for the account. If spam filtering is not active, related options will not be available when defining filter rules.
These features are available on standard cPanel-Hosting Umgebungen.
Why redirect spam instead of deleting it
Automatically deleting spam messages can result in lost legitimate emails that were incorrectly classified. Redirecting spam into a dedicated folder allows periodic review and recovery of valid messages if needed.
This method is commonly preferred for business mailboxes or accounts that receive important transactional email.
Creating a Spam folder
A folder must exist before messages can be delivered into it.
- Access the mailbox using webmail or an email client.
- Create a new folder named Spam.
- If using a desktop email client, ensure the folder is subscribed and visible.

Messages marked as spam are now automatically redirected to the Spam folder.
Advanced filtering options
Additional filtering logic can be applied using spam scores.
- Lower spam scores can be redirected for review.
- Higher spam scores can be discarded automatically.
This allows fine grained control over how aggressive spam handling should be.
Improving spam protection
For enhanced filtering accuracy, reputation based detection, and reduced false positives, dedicated filtering solutions such as SpamExperts can be integrated. Accounts with higher mail volume or stricter delivery requirements may also benefit from infrastructure based on Cloud-Server.
