This article explains why the messageYour IP address has changed. Please log in again.appears in cPanel and how to resolve it safely.

Problem description

While browsing pages inside cPanel, the session may be interrupted and the login screen is displayed again with an error stating that the IP address has changed.

This behavior is related to how cPanel validates active login sessions.

Common causes

This error typically occurs under one of the following conditions:

Simultaneous logins

The same cPanel username is used to log in from two different devices or browsers at the same time. cPanel detects the second session and invalidates the first one for security reasons.

Dynamic IP address changes

Some Internet Service Providers assign dynamic IP addresses. If your public IP address changes while you are logged in, cPanel treats this as a session mismatch and forces a logout.

This situation is more common on mobile connections or unstable networks, even when using reliable cPanel hosting services.

How to resolve the issue

To restore access:

  1. Close the current cPanel login page.
  2. Open a new browser tab or window.
  3. Log in to cPanel again using the same device.

In de meeste gevallen, no further action is required and the session will function normally after reauthentication.

Preventing repeated logouts

To reduce the chance of seeing this error again:

  • Avoid logging in to the same cPanel account from multiple devices at the same time.
  • Use a stable internet connection whenever possible.
  • Avoid switching networks while actively working inside cPanel.

For users who frequently experience IP changes or manage services from multiple locations, hosting environments such as cloud-servers or a VPS in the Netherlands may provide more consistent session stability.
