Colonel Server

Custom name servers allow you to brand DNS services using your own domain. This setup is commonly used with reseller hosting, managed VPS services, and dedicated servers.

For example, instead of using default name servers, you can configure branded entries such as ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com.

What Custom Name Servers Do

Name servers translate human readable domain names into IP addresses that computers understand. They are a fundamental part of how websites and online services function.

Using custom name servers gives you:

  • Brand consistency for hosted domains
  • Centralized DNS control
  • A professional setup for reseller and infrastructure services

Custom name servers are supported when you have sufficient control over DNS and server resources.

Requirements

Custom name servers are available for the following service types:

  • Reseller hosting
  • Managed VPS hosting
    n- Dedicated servers

Shared hosting accounts do not support custom name server registration.

Domains Registered with Colonelserver

If your domain is registered directly with Colonelserver, custom name server registration must be handled by the support team.

To proceed:

  1. Log in to the Client Area.
  2. Open a request through the support system.
  3. Specify the domain name and the custom name servers you want to create.

The team will register the required hostnames and complete the configuration on the server side.

Domains Registered with Third Party Registrars

If your domain is registered with an external registrar, custom name servers are created through that registrar’s control panel.

The process typically involves:

  1. Logging in to the registrar dashboard.
  2. Locating an option such as register name server or register hostname.
  3. Creating host records like ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com and assigning IP addresses.

Registrar interfaces differ, so exact steps may vary. If the option is not visible, contact the registrar’s support team.

After the custom name servers are registered, you must inform Colonelserver so final DNS configuration can be completed.

Final Configuration and Validation

Once registration is complete at the registrar level, submit the details to Colonelserver for validation and activation.

Centralized domain management and DNS services are available through the Colonelserver Domain platform.

If you need assistance at any stage of the setup, contact the technical team using the Support Ticket System.

Properly configured custom name servers ensure reliable DNS resolution and a fully branded hosting environment.
